Noopept was invented in 1996. Its structure is based on that of cycloalanineglycine; an endogenous neuropeptide.
Cycloglycine is known to promote the expression of brain-derived neurotrophic factor. So the researchers hypothesized that a cycloalanine-glycine-based nootropic would have similar effects, and that's what Noopept is.
