Product Introduction
Podophyllum resin is a substance extracted from the Berberidaceae plant podophyllum, called podophyllum extract (Sinopodophylum hexandrum P.E.) or the active ingredient extracted from the rhizome of the plant Sinopodophylum hexandrum P.E.
Podophyllum is a plant of the Berberidaceae family, and its roots and rhizomes are used as medicine. Excavated in autumn, washed and dried. Perennial herb, tall, 40-80cm. The rhizome is stout. The stem is erect, with clasping scales at the base.
Product Function
Podophylline is derived from the roots of podophyllum plant. Podophylline is applied directly to genital warts. When podophylline penetrates the wart tissue, it has a toxic effect on the nuclei of the wart cells.
Podophylline is an antimitotic and by its action on the nuclei, prevents the wart cells from dividing. This stops the cells multiplying. Over time, all the wart cells die and new healthy tissue grows in their place.
