Matsutake Mushroom Extract Matsutakeol 0.1%
what is Matsutake Mushroom Extract Matsutakeol?
Matsutake mushrooms are ranked among the top four most famous edible fungi (along with Cordyceps sinensis, Reishi mushrooms, and morel mushrooms). They contain 18 amino acids, 14 essential trace elements, 49 active nutrients, 5 unsaturated fatty acids, 8 vitamins, 2 glycoproteins, abundant dietary fiber, and various active enzymes. They also contain three precious active substances: double-stranded matsutake polysaccharides, matsutake peptides, and matsutake mushroom extract matsutakeol—a unique anti-cancer substance found nowhere else in the world.
Matsutakeol is a unique anti-cancer active ingredient found exclusively in matsutake mushrooms. It contains a special double-stranded RNA substance and possesses powerful anti-mutagenic and anti-cancer properties.

What are the applications of matsutake mushrooms in cosmetics?
1.Matsutake polysaccharides have excellent whitening effects. Some studies have found that the IC50 values of matsutake mycelial polysaccharides for tyrosinase monophenolase and diphenolase are 1.18 and 1.46 μg/mL, respectively. They exhibit inhibitory effects on tyrosinase activity and a reversible mixed-type inhibition effect, providing a theoretical basis for the development of whitening products.
2.Studies have shown that matsutake mushroom polysaccharides have significant antioxidant effects. Compared to tea polyphenols, a recognized natural antioxidant, they exhibit similar maximum scavenging effects on hydroxyl radicals and superoxide anion radicals, but their maximum inhibitory effect on lecithin lipid peroxidation is slightly stronger than that of tea polyphenols.

3. Matsutake polysaccharides have good antibacterial effects. Hu Shangqin et al. found that they have a significant inhibitory effect on Staphylococcus aureus, with the effect becoming more pronounced at higher concentrations.
The lipid-soluble substances of matsutake mushrooms have a significant inhibitory and inactivating effect on Salmonella enteritidis and Salmonella typhi.
Other applications of matsutake alcohol
Foods and Condiments
As a core component of "mushroom flavor," matsutake alcohol is directly used as a flavoring agent in high-end soups, mushroom soy sauce, frozen ready-to-eat dishes, and plant-based meat flavorings; after spray drying or microencapsulation, it can extend the shelf life of volatile alcohols and maintain aroma intensity.
Functional Health Foods
When combined with matsutake polysaccharides and peptides, it can be used to produce oral powders, capsules, and tablets with antioxidant, lipid-lowering, and immune-enhancing properties; Japan already has "matsutake extract" nutritional supplements for post-operative recovery patients.
Medicine and Adjunctive Cancer Treatment
In vitro experiments show that matsutake mushroom extract matsutakeol can induce apoptosis in cancer cells such as HeLa and HepG-2, and enhance macrophage activity; currently, it is mainly used as an adjuvant for radiotherapy and chemotherapy or as a candidate for immune regulation, and is in the laboratory-pilot stage, and has not yet been approved as a first-line drug.
